Government cannot demand trust in its reforms while withholding budget reports

Cash transfers cannot replace a serious plan to reduce poverty

Nigeria has distributed billions of naira to vulnerable households, but temporary financial assistance cannot substitute for an economy in which people can earn enough to support themselves. Cash transfers are necessary. Making them the centre of the country’s poverty reduction strategy is not.
