Openr

Cookie policy

Updated 1 October 2026.

Essential storage

The secure, HTTP-only __Host-openr-reader cookie keeps readers signed in for up to one hour. Signing out clears it. Cloudflare also uses authentication and security cookies for the protected admin area. These are not advertising cookies.

We store your embedded-video preference in your browser as openr-video-consent until you change it or clear your browser storage. If browser storage is unavailable, the preference applies only to the current page.

Optional videos

Embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos are blocked by default. Allowing them lets those providers receive your connection information and potentially use their own cookies. You can allow just one video using its Load button, or enable videos through the preference banner. Rejecting optional videos does not prevent you reading articles.

Changing your preference blocks future video loads and removes currently embedded players. It cannot remove cookies already set by another service; manage those in your browser.

Tracking

There are currently no advertising pixels or audience analytics SDKs in Openr’s application code. Hosting and security services still process technical request information. See the privacy policy.
